Negative experience: Very very poor service from Hume Auctioneers, NOTE I would not have used them only as it was banks request, they delayed property valuation required for New extension for nearly a month finally came back after being chased stating "they could not value the property" an estate agent that can't value a property!! Caused countless issues and stress with builder and bank because of delays caused. Got another Auctioneer who sent valuation to bank in less than 24 hours.

Negative experience: I have to say I’m very disappointed with Hume Auctioneers. I found a beautiful house on Daft.ie at Cherrygarth, Portlaoise. I rang Hume Auctioneers, booked a viewing, and a lady showed us the property. We really liked it – it looked even better than in the photos. A few days later, I placed an offer. When I called to follow up, I was told there were a few other offers, so I increased mine again on Wednesday afternoon. On Friday, I rang to check the status and was told an agent was reviewing the offers and would call me back shortly – but no one ever did. On Monday morning, I called again, only to be told there was another offer already about €50k above the asking price. I said I needed to think about it, then called back later that same day with my decision, only to be informed that the house had actually been sale agreed since the previous Friday. To make matters worse, the agent admitted she wasn’t sure what had happened, as far as I was aware my offer had been the highest that week. Later, she rang me back and said the owner had decided to sell the property to a family member – which, frankly, I find very hard to believe.

Negative experience: Very bad agent, be far. They are no answering calls; nobody knows what’s going on even they will answer. I been advised that first viewing for a house is weekend and no offer, called Friday to book appointment, no answer. Sent mail, reply came that sale agreed

Negative experience: The entire process of buying a home through this auctioneer was unnecessarily dragged out. Getting any information was like pulling teeth—slow, vague, and often inaccurate. We were repeatedly told the property would be ready by certain dates, only to face constant delays and broken promises. Communication was poor throughout, and dealing with the office was no better. The staff at Humes were consistently rude and unprofessional, making a stressful process even worse. Overall, I would not recommend this company to anyone.

However, if you do decide to use their services, be aware there may be a lack of communication and you pretty much have to force their hand in completing a sale. I also would steer clear of their recommendations of professional services. The engineer they recommended & we had used at the time, did not do a thorough job.

Negative experience: Joanna was great and helpful showing us the property and was happy bidding for the property. Lack of communication wasted our 3 months and as result a bit of stress and end up with nothing in hand. Only request is please keep the clients upto date atleast so they can move on and don't rely hoping to get that property after offering the amount what they were looking for.

Fantastic experience: I found the people at Hume incredibly helpful during a recent home purchase. Caroline in particular deserves a very special mention for handing a ridiculous amount of emails from myself for 8 months with various queries and clarifications. She was very kind, efficient and responsive literally every single time I needed her and left me very impressed by her professionalism. Prompt and clear communication is the #1 thing you need from an agent when buying a home in my opinion and Caroline excels at this. I would deal with them again any day. (Hopefully not too soon though)

Negative experience: John visited our property & was to call me with an evaluation within 3 days. I have been calling the office for the past 4 weeks, no return call, nor evaluation. Two other auctioneers came & evaluated within two days & have returned all calls. I have never left a bad review on google before but I felt it was right in this case as selling or buying a house is stressful enough without this level of time wasting.

Negative experience: Auctioneer never showed up for my appointment, after ringing the office several times and being told they were on their way. After 40min I left and never even got a phone call to apologise

Negative experience: Very disappointed. We went to view a house with my partner, wasn't a match for us. We spoke to Joanne that we were interested in viewing three other properties with Hume auctioneers, we got yes yes no problem I will arrange the viewings. We have contacted Joanne by telephone and text messages with no response. We have made a query on the website for an agent to get back to us no response either. Very unprofessional wouldn't recommend to deal with.

Both John and his team were always on the other end of the phone updating and advising me while continuously making progress. I was so happy with the end results. Negative experience: Unfortunately lost out on a chance to purchase a home through Hume. John himself was OK to deal with, as was Caroline and Joanne however, been kept in the dark about the chain we got caught up in rather than being honest or trying to keep each buyer sweet. Was very unfair and dishonest. Will find it difficult to trust auctioneers after this experience.

Positive experience: Arranged a viewing on a house for a specific time. We turned up and there was 4 other cars parked up waiting to view the same house. I would have expected the time to view the house and at least get some one to one time with the auctioneer. ******Update******* John rang to apologise and for that, I'm very grateful. He explained his situation and I explained my expectation and we move on. Appreciate the call John and best of luck with everything.

Fantastic experience: I found this estate agent to be beyond exceptional in the way they took on the sale of my deceased parents home with professionalism and sensitivity . John was the ultimate professional who worked hard Was always true to his word and was so helpful.I could not fault this estate agent in any way .Would recommend them 100%

Negative experience: Travelled from Dublin to Portlaois recently to view a house with a friend interested in a house advertised for €300k. on their website. Friend made genuine offer of €290k. They didn't seem all that interested in selling the property. Bit of a mystery as the property has been on the market for over 6 months. To say that we were "disappointed" with this company would be an understatement!

Negative experience: I could not recommend this company at all, I probably should have know when they demanded €370 up front. John left me waiting 40 mins , it took him 10 min to see the premises and then valued it nearly €100,000 under the value price until I kicked and then he put up the value a little. I’m not sure if he’s a cowboy or he just doesn’t know what he’s doing but I now have to have it valued again. Total waste of money.

Negative experience: As others have said.. Ads up are sale agreed and not updated. Don't return calls/answer online queries. No interest in your contact details when you do get through. You have mortgage approval, the market seems very quiet and there's expiry date on your loan offer and you have to put up with the likes of these chancers.

Fantastic experience: I bought a house through Hume Auctioneers and they were wonderful. Helpful, attentive and always extremely professional, they were simply lovely to deal with. On the day I collected the keys they went above and beyond for me, helping me out with several things until 8pm on a Friday night. I could not recommend them highly enough.

Negative experience: After 4 months on the market i had had 5 viewings and three of those were because i threatened to leave. (Amazing that suddenly seemed to get people who were anxious to buy every time you say you are going only). Anyways I did leave and went to another auctioneers. Within 3 weeks I had my first offer and the house was sold. I dont know what Hume play at but it is not selling houses. Avoid at all costs.
